From Blurry Vision to Second Touch Clarity

The "Perfect Storm"

Second Touch was born out of a personal and professional "perfect storm." Our founder, Tom Stevens, worked in HR, navigating large-scale redundancy programmes when he was hit by a wave of personal crisis: bereavement, safeguarding challenges at his child's sports club, and eventually, facing redundancy himself.

"I went from managing projects that impacted hundreds of people to being unable to leave my bed," Tom recalls. "But it was in that darkest place that I experienced the transformative power of a simple, timely connection, and the healing grace of a 'Second Touch'."

The Theology of Clarity (Mark 8:22-25)

Our name and philosophy are anchored in the Gospel of Mark. When Jesus healed the blind man at Bethsaida, the healing happened in stages. After the first touch, the man’s sight was blurry, he saw people, but they looked like "trees walking." It was only after Jesus laid hands on him a second time that his vision was restored to total clarity.

In life and leadership, we often find ourselves in that "blurry" middle ground. We have the initial idea or the first hint of a problem, but we lack the clarity to move forward. Second Touch Coaching Cards are designed to be that second moment of reflection, the "powerful question" that brings your path into sharp focus.

Our Pivot: Equipping the Community

What began as a personal decision making tool has grown into a mission to equip organisations across the UK and beyond. Having spent years seeing change in corporate HR, Tom realized that blending coaching tools and faith to facilitate meaningful conversations that lead to action, was a game changer.
